How long should it take?
Hi All
This is my frst post, been lurking for a while and found the site extremely useful, learnt a lot. Im a painter and decorator initially but did all the tiling in various homes of mine and family, learning as i went along. Have now done a few successful professional tiling jobs. Recently been working with a plumber to fit a bathroom but it seems to be taking ages.
I dont know if we're REALLY slow or just expecting too much.
The job is as follows;
bathroom 2m x 2m ish;
-remove polystyrene ceiling tiles & make good
-remove old bath, sink, electric wall heater and over bath electric shower (newish toilet to remain), dispose of all waste.
-reroute plumbing and waste for shower through cupboard and ceiling (no access to loft space)
--tank shower area (Benfer,)
-fit resin shower tray (no legs platform built)
- tile floor to ceiling with 200x250 white ceramic tiles
-fit shower (hot feed from combiboiler only), fit new ceiling light, new pull switches for shower & light.
-fit shower enclosure, sink & taps.
-marine ply to floorboards, tile with 330x330 ceramic floortiles
-usual siliconing etc.
-paint ceiling white
How long would you estimate that this should take to completion?
Thanks very much.
Kirsten

Hello and welcome..
It isn't a race, so it will take as long as it takes and the customer is happy.

Re: How long should it take?
I fit complete bathrooms more mid to high end but a job like this would take us 6 to7 days cant be quicker because things have to be done in turn. You could spend another day or two but this would afect your profit. Its always a balance between time and money

Takes as long as it takes to do it properly and you and the customer are happy with finished product. The more you do the quicker you'll get.

Re: How long should it take?
The most important thing is the customer being happy.
On my web site I state that I have Never had a dissatisfied customer a record i am proud of and intend to keep

Re: How long should it take?
HI to all and thank you,
Well it took us about 13 working days but i was part time as there wasnt always something i could do and we uncovered a lot if problems on the way.
As you say whats most important was the satisfied customer and the job was done to high standard looked good and I know its good on the bits you cant see too! The customer was really happy with the end result.
Cant make a living like that though so need to keep getting better at it.
Thanks again everyone.

Re: How long should it take?
With experience and knowledge comes speed. It will get quicker as you learn from the mistakes you make as you go. Good luck with it

Re: How long should it take?
But as you said the job was done right and the customer was happy. That is all that matters for now.
Speed will get quicker with every job i'm sure.
Much better to take an extra day or 2 than have an unhappy customer or the feeling that the job hasnt been completed to your expected standards
