i am doing a friends bathroom floor in a couple of weeks.the house has had a large extension to the side, therefor bathroom floor extended about 2mtrs.problem-the original floor is floorboards and the new is plywood.do i cover the whole lot again with plywood, hence making a high step(especially when tiles are on),or could i just prime and adhesive it all AND would it be the same materials i would use on both floors?...ANY suggestions please!!

You could do with getting the lower area higher by using plywood and then tile the whole thing. I think. What sort of height difference are we talking about? A few mm? Materials-wise, it's a case of BAL Fastflex on the floorboards providing they are screwed or fixed really well, and two part flex on the plywood, at the most. Or the whole lot with fastflex and if it's just a few mm difference then you could swallow the difference with the adhesive.

If I read your post right, that is.

12MM exterior ply (nothing less) over the whole lot is what i would do, you will have to do it on the main floorboard part of the bathroom anyway so another 2 extra meteres is nothing, screw down every 300mm, be carefull of pipes prime the ply with bal apd and use flex adhesives and grouts. Go to Floors To Go and get a door threshold bar for the heights into the room
