You need to send them your UTR number and then they will send you payment less tax and a remittance note stating tax has been stopped which you show the accountant or tax dept when filing your returns.

Re: can anyone help or enlighten me? utr cis
you dont need to send them a utr number if you dont have one, send them your national insurance number and they can ring the cis helpline to varify you, they will be given a varification number and told to stop you 30% instead of the normal 20% and then you will get your money

Re: can anyone help or enlighten me? utr cis
You will find your UTR number on the self assessment tax forms.. give this UTR number to the employer and then they phone the tax office to verify you are registered.. then they should just deduct 20% tax but if they don't verify then it will be 30% until you register ..

I don't think they tax you on materials spent on the works if you supplied them.

Tax only stopped from labour.

Re: can anyone help or enlighten me? utr cis
They can actually blanket the tax deduction regardless of what the breakdown of labour/material costs are. You should be issued your cis certificate within 3 months and you deduct this off when making your own tax return.
