Any one come across this before !
tn-1.jpegI am nearing the end of a 500m flooring job in an engineering factory, I have lifted all the old lino and altro, scarified, primed etc, then in the two last rooms i lifted the altro to find that the old adhesive had not dried, the altro has been down 20 years !!! the adhesive , that white snotty stuff was as gooey as the day it was spread ! amazing ! there has been no flooding or the likes, just never gone off !! left over night it was dry enough to put the machines on it, but what a surprise
the pic is not that clear but what a mucky job lifting the covering, just wondering if anyone else has come across this , seeya Steve aka ozboz

Re: Any one come across this before !
I found moisture under lino type floor that felt damp, cold floor, warm room.

Re: Any one come across this before !
Most of the flooring adhesives go that way when they're damp. If there's dampness in the concrete coming up it can't go through the vinyl so will build up. Just a possibility.

Re: Any one come across this before !
interesting again, but all the other rooms and passage ways adjecent were ok, dry as a bone, the affected area is 40 m out of 500, the walls are partitions and yet there is no sign of moisture or damp anywhere else , got me beat !!

Are any of the walls in that room external walls?

Re: Any one come across this before !
Could be a damaged dpc or burst pipe or something else. Whatever it is it'll need checking.

Could be drainage, if there's a old drain with drain pipe into it, check that, see if it's cracked and draining back into the building...

Re: Any one come across this before !
there is an external wall. and 3 internal partition walls that have metal bottom plates that are not fixed to the floor ,the problem does not go past the partion walls at all, stops dead,

Re: Any one come across this before !
the rooms have different purposes, sort of chemicals in one and a spray booth in the other ,

Re: Any one come across this before !
the whole slab is prob around 700m2, all partion walls internally, any probs with drains dpm's etc would not be isolated to two rooms, thats whats got me beat !

Re: Any one come across this before !
no, I asked that, this fac tory is more like a lab, they make special bits for RR aircraft engines and stuff like like that, the factory is heated to a 15' temp day and night, its really odd, once the air got to it it dried to that brown colour ond then chipped off with the scarifyer, no visual signs of any moistur signs under adhesive, mad as !,

Re: Any one come across this before !
I have seen this often and it is pretty much due to presence of of dampness, or water damage. In my experience it seems to be most common in pubs and school toilets for some reason (possibly due to spilligaes etc and lack of care when cleaning.
