Re: hardiebacker installation help
Just fill with silicone for added protection..
If you are after a water proof installation then tanking is the way.

Re: hardiebacker installation help
Right..... i have started to fix the hardiebacker board and I'm a little concerned that the washers i was given by my local tile company are not the right ones because no mater how tight you tighten the screw they still sit on the surface of the board. Is this normal practice?

Re: hardiebacker installation help
I use those washers when fixing cement lined poly-core boards, such as Wedi & Marmox. I would not use them when fixing Hardie or No More Ply cement backer boards. I think your tile shop has incorrectly advised you.

Thanks for the info. I will remove them and just use screws then.
It just goes go to show that even experts get it wrong from time to time as the advice and materials came from a very well regarded tile supplier in my area.
