Re: lost my laser level
I can't say anything because I've done it more than once and lost some materials but nothing of the value of your level. I'm now slightly obsessive in checking the back door is properly shut and looking over my right shoulder through a gap in the bulkhead of my Master to see if the light is on in the back in case the doors have sprung.

Re: lost my laser level
this courtesy van has a full bulkhead mate, so I couldn't just look over my shoulder and check into the back

I've done it too a few times and once had my tx700 slide past me at a junction. My latest van warns you if you haven't shut the side or back doors properly, so haven't done it for a while.

Just wait till you get the L200 back and you forget to hook your trailer up properly........

Re: lost my laser level
I would be gutted mate. Takes ages to get all these tools together. I meant to ask Doug, how are things working out with the pick up? hopefully insurance companies aren't giving you any greif mate?
Am I right in remebering that that crazy woman had been drinking?

I'd shut the door andy, but i think when the tools shifted something sprung the handle from inside, possibly my straight edge.

Re: lost my laser level
I lost the top pulley from my old beetle engine
. I had heavily modified the engine and gave it some beans away from a junction and, as I had not re-fitted the engine lid the extra torque caused the pulley to shatter and spew out the back of my car.
Fortunately, I not lost any tools out the back of my van though.

Re: lost my laser level
i,ve never lost any tools ouit of the van either but a couple of months ago i lost 4x 8' by 4' boards off the top, i braked going down a hill as the car in front slowed down but the boards slid forward and down the bonnet of my van and slid on the road till they hit the tyres of the car in front. really embarrassing at the time, no damage luckily, funny thinking back

Re: lost my laser level
was going on a golf away day last summer on a mini coach, there was a trailer for the clubs and holdalls. After about 3 miles on a roundabout a car pulled up along side and spoke to our driver, the roller shutter on the trailer hadn't been closed, we retraced our route and picked up 3 sets of clubs, never lost anything....amazingly..t'was the driver who had supposedly closed the shutter

Re: lost my laser level
One way to get the insurance company to buy you a new one!
I am looking for one at present, does anyone have any recommendations?
I was looking at either Stabila LAX50 or Stanley CLL both for around £80-100.
I would appreciate any feedback.
Cheers,

Re: lost my laser level
sorry Doug
there is a saying that things happen in 3s hopefully the next 3 will be good luck, ive done it and lost tools, nothing valuable
opened my back door and my screw case fell out and scattered screws all over their gravel drive
side door opened as I pulled away from a junction and an opened bag of cement poured out
but the funniest one [not] was when I was tugged for an insecure load, I looked at the copper and said insecure load ? im a painter, we know we have just followed your trail of lilac emulsion for half a mile LOL
so that was a white bedford cf van with a lilac bumper and a fine off the council for messing their highway up
I know nothing I havent learnt

Re: lost my laser level
Despite my having a warning light on the dash of my van I have actually pulled away with the back door open before now!
Fortunately nothing lost.
I have also driven several miles around Plymouth with a piece of 3x2 on the roof. Nothing unusual in that - until you consider that having arrived at B & Q I then realised it wasn't even strapped on!
All I can say Doug is that my karma must have been sent to the wrong person - sorry
