    Default Uneven Wall !

    Hello,

Start tiling in the morning in my own bathroom, I've put my battens round, and mocked up my first row, all the way round, I was checking the walls out, and one wall which is dot and dabbed, protrudes about 8mm right in the centre where my window centre line is, allowing my level to rock back and forth, I estimate the bad section is just over a tile and a half with (500mm approx ) I intend using a 10mm round notch trowel.

    So................

    1. Will that trowel be enough to compensate?

    2. Should I try and sand it out with a belt sander ( done it before LOL )

    3. Cut it out, and skim it back up to grade?

    4. Buy a 12mm trowel.

    Alternatives ?

    Thanks in advance

    Jed

You will struggle to get it even, even with a larger trowel, get the preparation / wall right first for best results.

If you can cut out the plasterboard in the area that is protruding and replace I think that will save you some hassle, easier than sanding, and will not compromise the strength of the wall

I would chop out the bulge chisel out whatever is causing the bulge and stick a new piece of plasterboard back in.

Think I may have mis judged this one!

I ended up sanding the join of the boards back with a 40 grit belt sander LOL, it worked though.

    Thanks for the replies

Has that left you a decent surface to tile to though? Surely the paper has gone from the front and left a crumbly plasterboard core?

The finish is better than you would imagine, their was very little to remove, I was tired when I noticed it last night, and a bit of panic set in, I thought it was worse than it was. It has removed the paper, but it's quite smooth, I just put a few coats of Primer G on it, and I won't be touching it till tomorrow.

Does this sound ok ? I was going to put a skim over it with my adhesive when I start the other walls, or should I have done that first?

You far better get the subsurface correct otherwise it could cause you problems later.
Personally I would chop it out & replace it.

    Cheers Scottley,

It actually only measures about 150mm accross, and probably taken about 3mm out, so I'm quite happy with it, just wanted a second opinoin from the Pro's

    Cheers

BTW, what's the best consistency for Kerraflex for 8mm ceramic?
