Priming walls
Hi all, Im in the middle of doin my wet room and was priming shower Walls (sand/cement and ply) before tanking, I noticed that there was a skin on the sand/cement Wall when it dried out, primer came with tanking kit, not PVA, is this normal, just want to know before I apply paste, thanks

Re: Priming walls
What tanking kit do you have?
-
-
Re: Priming walls

Re: Priming walls
Sounds like you have applied it neat and yes it will "skin" It should have been diluted either 1.1 or even 1.3.
Have you read the instructions ?
-
-
Re: Priming walls
Yes applied it neat, my mistake, what should I do now?
-
-
Re: Priming walls
Is it a rendered wall ?? Rub it off with sandpaper or a rubbing block then prime again at 3.1 dilution.
-
-
Re: Priming walls
Yes it's a rendered wall, done the ply also but it seems ok or should I sand this to
-
-
Re: Priming walls
I would as if it has skinned then al you will be fixing to is that skin.
-
-
Re: Priming walls
Do I have to bring it back to surface or just ruff it up, just use coarse sand paper?
-
-
Re: Priming walls
Just remove any evidence of the primer skinnning over.

Re: Priming walls

Checked Dave it said 1.1 or 3.1 for sand and cement render. 2 coats neat for polished plaster.

Re: Priming walls
Hi save, just says on bucket that kit came in to prime walls first but on primer jar is says dilute 1:1 for ply and 3:1 for render, I applied it neat to all, think I'll have to get sand paper out or what's easiest way to mend
