Some stainless steel mosaics have a peel off protective film that is taken off after grouting to stop the grout scratching the steel surface, is it like that?

Been using some today that have a film all over the face of the metallic metal face. You need to remove this before grouting of course. No problems here .

Not come across it on ceramics Dave, as above used it on metalic mosaics, all I can say is on metalic it leaves a sticky residue, I used a product called Sticky stuff remover. Seriously thats what it's called. Sorry I can't be of more help

Sticky Stuff Liquid Remover - Lakeland, the home of creative kitchenware

Only used it on small areas Dave, your stuff might not leave a residue, I hope Don't know the price. Or if you can buy it in industrial quantities

I use the sticky stuff remover as well, big white plastic litre bottle, get them in hardware shops and some such shops as pound shops etc.

The plastic film removes easier when heat is applied, like a hairdryer - not melting hot heat, just enough to warm the film up a little, works a treat I use different grades of sticky film all the time, for the reverse and even the double reverse method and wouldn't want to be without my hairdryer! Just make sure that the tiles are properly set before attempting to pull off the plastic!

Just like old paper faced Dave, apart from it was a bit easier to soak paper faced with water. This job gets harder or is it just me
