Default removing glue

Hi all,
Has any one a solution to the following problem.as only been in the trade 6 months and this is a first for me .
I have just finished 2 new shower rooms and a bath room in a farm house refurbishment and have now been asked to tile part of the old kitchen floor.
The original floor is conrete with 20 year old lino tiles stuck to it.
The problem I have is most of the tiles have come up in the well walked areas with the aid of a floor scraper but I was left with a border where they were stuck like the preverbial "---- to a blanket ".I have managed to remove the tiles using a heat gun but am left with the glue(which looks very much like EVO-STICK) .
Does any one know of away to remove the glue, or an alternative as I dont think there would be a suitable adhesion of the adhesive to the floor in these area.
The surface under the glue is pitted.

BAHT'AT
Richard

Never heard of the border tiles being stuck better than the field tiles. Most unusual. Its preferable to remove excess adhesive. Some people opt for a thin skim of a levelling compound as a barrier between both adhesives, after first using the matching primer.

Thanks Len,
The ones that wouldn't come up looked as if there had been some thing over them and just hadnt had the wear and tear as the others just broke in to bits and lifted. The floor scraper just wouldnt go under the edges of the others and I even tried an old wood chisel and hamer and this just cut strips through the tiles but still left the glue.

Hi Pete,
Sorry to sound dim but I have looked on the net for that PCI Primer, but there were a few sites mentioned it but couldnt find any details once in the site.
Is it a brand name or a particular type of primer?
Would appreciate if you could let me know.
Thanks in advance.

PCIUK - Ceramic Tiling Primers
Try this

PCI PRIMER 303

Solvent Free Primer/Admixture

(Size Available: 1L & 5L)

Primer 303 is a solvent free dispersion based special primer for use on impermeable and low absorbency substrates. It provides a strong bond between cementitious material and a low-absorbency background.

For interior and exterior use For priming of dense, non-absorbent substrates Use under PCI cementitious adhesives, levelling compounds, renders and repair mortars For terrazzo, ceramic, polished stone and PVC

Thanks for the PCI info. Unlikely that i can get hold of this stuff. Any of the better known tile adhesive companies supply something similar. Do you reckon there is a compulsion to use the PCI adhesive with their primer or is everyone happy to use their regular adhesives
