Default Ideas for using left over tiles...

Takeaway shop near me being refurbed. Mosaic everywhere - floor, all the walls, counters and the shopfront itself. Evidently they had a fair bit left over, so they decided to mosaic the door as well. Nice.

See how neatly they have tiled around all the old ironmongery:

They have used ProRapid RS, so it might stay on at least until it's been slammed a few times.

Hmmm. it may stay on for a while. unless they have one heck of a hydraulic cylinder on the top to keep it from slamming.

Nah I don't like that. They should have just flogged the tiles or something.

Well the photo's were too close to be able to give an aesthetical opinion as to the benefits of the appropriate usage of such eloquent tiles.
However as an old tiling mate used to say at the end of most jobs - 'another monument to man's dexterity in the face of adversity'.
In this case 'waste not want not'.

It would be good for some of the forum contributers to bang there heads against when they've had a Homer Simpson moment on the job.

Don't worry about me. I didn't do it - I think it's horrible. The tiled door combined with the wrought iron grille makes it look like a brothel.

Now that I wouldn't know... I thought it looked like something unsavoury, but couldn't think of what... more like a door to some hostage situation... yes, more like that.... ball and chain, that sort of thing.... urrgh...
