Default Tiling behind an aga cooker

A bit of advice please. I have a job to tile onto fire board behind a fitted aga cooker. Is there an easy way to lay the tiles down the back (aga is about 5 inches out from the wall) as the top tiles will need to be level with the fire board, or is it a case of tiling as far down as you can reach. Many thanks

Not to sure as it is covered in wallpaper at the moment. People have just moved into the house.

It has a lip where it is fitted on to the wall and my father who is a builder remembers the house being done with fireboard (doesn't know type) when the aga was fitted

ooo well it might not be suitable to tile too.. as in fiberous base can absorb heat no probs but not much cop with moisture, so please do check compatibility
