Tiling in london
Well lads i'm moving to London next month from Ireland , am doing my cscs course in Belfast next week. Just wondering if anyone had any contacts for the tiling in Olympic village or London underground. I'm tiling seven years been working for myself four years and want to make a move now as we have hit a big wall in Ireland.
Anyway if anyone can help it be great help thanks lads.

Can't help you on your query...What is like over there for tiling work, talking domestic as opposed to site ?

Re: Tiling in london
Well i do mostly domestic and for small builders , havent done major sites for three years. The domestic side is very slow here too people just wont spend and cant get loans even though the tile stores pricing is not bad. I've survived the last few years but it getting slower now , so dont want to be siting around waiting for work.

Re: Tiling in london
Askin because we have been thinking over moving over, missus wants to go to Cork, I want to go up towards sligo/donegal (mainly because her mum and dad are in wexford and donegal is a long way from them) I am apprehensive due to having to start up afresh, I have a good reputation in my locality and all my work is through recommendation, it would be worrying having to go through it all again.

Re: Tiling in london
I wouldn't advise going to look for work in Ireland at the moment, I'm from Ireland and have been tiling there for the past 19yrs and would say i was pretty well established but building trade there has come to a standstill over the past 2 or 3yrs so I've just returned to London to look for work, so my advice would be to leave it for a couple of years because it will be a couple of years at least before building work will be back in action again.

I hate the sound of all this and me stuck in the middle of it, i work north and south and have jobs ready to go but the people don't have the funds to let me start !!
Lotto would be handy right now.

Re: Tiling in london
Its quite difficult to get back into the loop again after being away for so long. I've been made a few promises but nothing has really come through yet. Some small jobs on the go but only a couple of days a week so far. So if anybody is looking for a Tiler with over 20yrs experience, please give me a shout.

People have told me to drink in irish bars and the lads with help ya out as much as they can . I not mad on sites cause have done only mostly domestic most of the time but will be willing to work anywhere.

Re: Tiling in london
thinkin about goin to london aswell, seems to be more on. Definatly dont come to ireland looking for work...any big job you go on to is at risk of receivership and any small domestic jobs people expect done for next to nothing.
