tiling concrete floors
hey just a quick question if i was going to tile a concrete floor could you lay tiles straight onto it or would it need priming ??also if the floor was uneven you would use a self leveling compound would this need priming after??also when laying ply down for wooden floors would you then need to primer the ply before sticking tiles down ?

Re: tiling concrete floors
Hi, if the floor is uneven then yes use a SLC. regarding ply it is recommended to seal the underside and edges to avoid moisture ingress and also the top depending on the adhesive, read the label.

Re: tiling concrete floors
Prime the floor if it's dusty and or dust comes with brushing, slc if it's too uneven, and as was said above, prime underside and edges of ply, you'll also need to think about de-coupling membrane and expansion joints.

Re: tiling concrete floors
i've not used it. yes you do need to prime the plywood before sticking down the plastic ply, it's self adhesive though.
