Question Lipping on crappy walls

Hello,

Can anyone help me please, I'm getting lipping on wall tiles. I am buttering the back of the tiles, and the wall has been "plastered" (skimed and not very well at that).

I have taken some tiles off to re-lay them, and have also noticed that the adheshive was not making full contact with the wall.

How can I get around this problem, and is it because my buttering is crap?

Thanks

Learner-tiler.

Comb the adhesive on the walls first, then butter any tiles that are sunken in compared to the others "where the walls are standing proud so to speak" to try and get an even lay using a little more adhesive to pack them out a bit.

also check the walls with your level for any high or low spots..then you will know which parts need more adhesive etc..

use 10mm floor trowel, with cemment adhesive this should give you more play with tiles.
