it 's for insulation we fix them then render with a flexable render then tile, and then it save's people lots of cash on there heating bills for the lifetime of the pool if you click on the aquatherm bit on my signiture at the bottom of this and follow the links you can read more about it

Out of cuiriosity, what depth would you get away with drilling into the render mate? Can there be a possabilty that the pool would not be 100% water tight?

I have no experience in pools whatsoever. I worked on a site once on a public swimming baths and it was constructed with large slabs. This is the only time I have been near a pool during construction.

pool wall vary in thickness from 150--300/400 and floors can be very thick so drilling in to the pool shell by 75mm is not a prob really mate

Ah i see its for heated pools, dont have them in Spain not a big seller though ground source heating is available to give you a few more weeks into the winter but thats not realy selling due to cost and no ones got any money, what is your recipe for flexible render then?

Once hammered home those fixings are a biatch to remove, we once had the unfortunate task of having to remove about 10 m2 what a pain.

So why do you use this high polymer render against OCR, is it the 36 hour thing or is it going over insulation. If so where does the cement board come in, is that fixed over the insulation?

Sorry mate i got it wrong i read your first post wrong thought it said fixing cement board. See what you are doing now its basicly a thin coat insulated render system but the other way round in a swimming pool as all forces are positive cant see any problem with it but as i said before i would still mechabnicly fix.
