Liability insurance
I've been in business now for 6 years (sole trader) during which time I've broken tiles whilst carrying them upstairs,(I purchased replacement tiles) I've drilled a hole in an underfloor water pipe (cost me for the plumber to repair). I have now been blamed for causing a break in an underfloor heating mat. I will have to uplift the tiles and replace them and may have to pay for a new heating mat and an electrician to fit.
If I had liability insurance would I have been able to claim for any of the above?

Re: Liability insurance
Possibly. But you should really have liability insurance for the sake of your customers. If you ever killed one somehow you'd have a bit of cover. (Perhaps not the best way to put it - ha). Though "bad workmanship" isn't always covered on standard policies. You may have to add whatever they call that to your policy.

Re: Liability insurance
It is really. But I've known quite a few businesses not have it.
We're in the process of setting up an insurance firm ourselves you know. Just too busy at the mo. It'll be like a contractorscompare thing but we will answer the phone and sort you out. haha.

Re: Liability insurance
A bit?? Bloody hell mate it would have to be more then a bit! Dont think this post is in The Arms so I wont post prices but what they have just quoted me is not even remotely competitive!!!

Re: Liability insurance
To be fair we haven't been in touch with them for some time so perhaps they've increased their prices somewhat. Like I say as soon as I get time to work on the website we'll have our own brokers and sort you guys out. Try contractorscompare.com and some others and see what the best price is and then PM me with it.
