Hi all,
I am new to this forum, I wonder what suggestions are there on how to get new jobs. I have tried leafletting, mailshots, rated people.... non seem to work. I would appreciate your thoughts.

I am a trained tiler, had my training from STC a couple of years ago after a voluntary redundancy from the finance industry and had worked on a few projects both domestic and commercial, I recently went away to europe to evaluate the market. I am back now and looking for work.

At the time af that advert, I was in partnership with a loft converter. I can still recommend them for a good job if the service is needed.

Out of interest, what was your financial services role?
Other than some cheap shot advertising, what direct marketing have you actually carried out? What local networking have you done?

You need to get yourself in to the local tile shops and sell yourself. Give them a bit of tile chat and say that you have just moved to the area and could use their help in establishing yourself in the new area.
Get down to your local Builders Merchants (in your work clothes) and get talking to as many plasterers, builders and plumbers as you can. Always have a wedge of business cards in your pocket and get them handed out.
You will make your own luck, so get out there and don't just sit at home waiting for things to happen.

There's no tilers advertising in the free herald, worth a try
