Hi I took a call today from a potential customer who is looking to have her spiral staircase tiled in marble. Not seen it yet but she will call me tomorrow to sort out a time to look.
Anyone ever done anything like this ?
Any pics ?
thanks
Mark

Not somethink I've done but there is a few guys on here that have...
Do you have much experiance with natural stone

Not quite Spiral but Garythetiler and Hillhead have done something similar and have photos on here somewhere.
As above do you have experience in stone ? You could make templates and get the stone shaped so you only have to lay but I think you would still need to finish them off and that means specialist tools.

Think Octobers JOTM winner was a staircase in porcelain, photos should be there
Hi thanks for the replies I have done a floor in Basalt and 3 bathrooms and a complete ground floor in Travertine - if they count but have a feeling I am just not experienced enough for this one ! Might have to pass it up.

Why not get in touch with Pebbs? She's the expert on marble, and probably the right person with the right people to pass it on to...![]()

Now I would love to have a go at something like this![]()

Here's one i done in february this year and won the coveted JOTM Competition with it.
A real joy to do and a challenge hard to beat.
Check my website too and the staircase is on home page.
I had hoped to do another one this year but money seems to put a halt to it so i'll tear on,lol.

Joe, did that staircase get a banister eventually, like a wrought iron one or something? This looks like bone breaker... :Yikes: so pretty but scary!!

Not sure yet G, i would like to think so...
I have another house on for same people and i started it back in june !!!
Done nothing since as money was tied up with solicitors some way but i have a 120m2 basement floor to do below that staircase sometime !!!!

Agree with Dave...... There's only one way to get that kind of experience and that's do it. If you feel confident enough and have he ability to work with stone in general, then why not. you can also share the job with someone else too to gain that valuable experience for the future.

Top notch hillhead, but then they do say the irish are the best..

There is plenty of the best on here Paul as you will see, get yourself into the forums arms soon and watch the JOTM competitions.... wow !! It's good to take the competition back to Ireland now and again, tommyzoom has won it too from up there in Donegal.

It's rare Gisela, that staircase rises from the hallway to the top floor.
The basement is below the staircase with 14 steps going down which i have not tiled yet, he want's porcelain for them maybe with same for basement floor but he has so much to do about the house i don't know when i'll be called back.

I love cellars, can't understand why not all houses have them... looks a nice place to work in, Joe![]()

It's an unreal big house, i have tiled hallway floor, staircase, kitchen and utility floor all in marble.
The guy is as eccentric as they come, you'd love to meet him.lol.
His wife is a nurse and local bee keeping association president, do you remember the bee we cut out of polished porcelain for them? it was in her sisters new house which i'v started too.

Rich eccentrics - perfection...... poor eccentrics have a much harder time being considered as such...
