    Default Newbie DIY'er Advice

I have a bathroom that is back to brick, the plan is to get all the walls dot and dab boarded using a moisture resistant board, then tank the bath / shower area using BAL kit. The tiles I have bought are 60cm x 30 cm porcelain.

I have never tiled a wall with tiles this size or weight before, any advice welcome :-)

    Questions:

Is dot and dab plasterboard sufficient to hold these tiles ok?

Will the area tanked adhere to the tiles aswell as non-tanked area?

I was planning on starting off the first row of tiles on a baton attached to the wall, is this a good idea?

The pilkingtons bagged adhesive is about a month out of date, I think the bag says it lasts 3 months, will it be ok?

You've got it about right, use baton but make a "staff" so that you don't have small cut's to make below, above, left and right of window, over door and below ceiling, etc, etc, etc. I also don't know pilkington's adhesive so can't comment on it.

Don't skimp with the dabs of adhesive for the board
