Building up floor prior to tiling - plywood?
I'm laying some floor tiles in downstairs WC (concrete floor) but need to build up the floor level by 18mm to get a good level with existing timber floor in hallway.
What's my best option here? 18mm external plywood screwed down?
Any advice is really appreciated.

I'd go for a self levelling compound personally

Yup and work on about 1 bag per m2 at that depth. Make sure what ever you use can go to that depth though. Most good quality SLC can but some of the stuff in the DIY sheds is just for skimming.

there is a latex out now that you will go to 25mm in one go.. i've used the benfer one in the past,nd takes away the risk of hitting any pipes

Backer boards is another option.. i would not introduce ply, this is then adding expansion issues that you can do without..
But if a small floor of say a couple mtrs then deffo SLC it..
Mapei tradeplan renovation screed does 30mm in one bite..
