High Gloss tiles Vs Matt Tiles

I'm wondering what is easier to maintain. Would it be the high gloss finish tiles or a matt finish tile ? The area I am looking to cover is a Kitchen and small toilet.

Which would be best for being stain resistant, scratching and easier to keep clean ?

if its a kitchen floor i would prefer a matt tile,just my opinion but kitchens are high traffic areas and polished tiles will look more dirty quicker

Dirty as in scuffs, scratches and stains ? or general dirt like dust etc

A decent high gloss tile shouldn't scratch very easily (polished porcelain for example) They do reflect the light and show up dirt, dust etc. Think what a piece of glass would look like on your floor! Bit like the car windows when the kid have been in the back for a few hours! Matt finish will take a lot less maintenance

I went for a matt finish on my porcelaine tiles for a few reasons.

1) Polished porcelaine needs sealing. Matt doesn't.
2) Polished porcelaine can be slippery when wet. Matt tends to be less so. And I have three young children.
3) Polished porcelaine takes more effort to keep that "as new" look.
4) It seems that more people have issues around hazing when installing polished porcelaine tiles than with matt. Something to do with the use of transportation wax?

The above represents my own understanding and could be cobblers. Happy to be corrected.

Thanks for that info the only one I am sure of is point 1, the porcelaine tiles I was looking at didnt need any sealing. Of course its not rule of thumb for every polished porcelain tile though.
