Novellini Linear Wet Floor Kit - getting the floor level.
Hi
I'm putting in a Novellini wet floor kit, I'm not making a wet room , just want the shower tray hidden and tiled over, I'm fitting a shower screen as normal once it is all tiled.
My dilemma is that the Novellini base unit is 22 high and mounts onto the joists, in an ideal world I'd lift the existing shower room floor and fit the 22mm Novellini base and 22mm ply, everything would be level and ready for tiling.
But .... you don't get 22 mm ply, the existing floorboards are 15mm and are a bit creaky and some are split, so I think I should lift them but what do I put down to get to roughly 22mm to tile onto, sheets of 12mm and 9mm WBP ply ?
And if I'm fitting the ply would I fit the sheets at 90 deg to the one below and leave small gaps between the sheet edges for expansion ?
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks.
Kenny.

Who told you you don't get 22mm ply. Most timber merchants stock it!

Thanks Dave and Stewart
My local depot - Jewsons only quote 6, 9 , 12 , 15 and 18 as available. I think I'll be going in in the morning to ask if they can get the 22mm size.
That would be perfect.
Oh, I'm using Granfix fast set flexible adhesive, would I need to prime the ply before tiling ?

Re: Novellini Linear Wet Floor Kit - getting the floor level.
Thanks for the help so far guys but my local builders is telling me that the nearest branch with 22mm ply is 400 miles away AND thye are quoting about £70 a sheet.
I may have to resort to a plan B.
I have been thinking on either putting down 12 and 9mm ply to get to nearly the 22 I need or as I read in another thread a product called Mapei Fibreplan it's a " Water-bored ultra-fast hardening self levelling fibre reinforced smoothing compound ".
My question is ..... is the Mapei stuff really for a DIYer ?? Is it a case of mix it up and spread it on the floor to bring the floor level up ? Can I tile on top of it ? how difficult is it to get a level floor with it , any tips ? I'b be spreading the Mapei stuff on top of 18mm WBP ply that I will put down
Thanks for any help, it is appreciated.

Re: Novellini Linear Wet Floor Kit - getting the floor level.
Why not use 6mm backer boards on top of the 18mm, this will take you to 24mm and you have said you roughly need 22. Plus it gives you a better tiling surface than ply.

Don't know where you live, but you really should try looking around at different suppliers. For me jewson's are a last resort for anything as they ar so expensive.

Thats very true, went into my local some years ago, saw the yard lad for what I needed then went to pay in the office, listened in disbelief at what they wanted money wise so..........walked back out to the yard lad, unloaded and drove off. Rip off!

Yep sounds about right. Screwfix are quite good the best I know of are Selco. Stock everything and proper prices. Won't sell to the public.
