Default Single Part Flexi / Rapid Set Flexi

hI ALL,

sORRY TO BORE YOU AGAIN WITH THE SAME SUBJECT BUT I KEEP GETTING CONFLICTING INFORMATION FROM SEVERAL TILE SUPPLIERS AND WHAT I AM HEARING ON HERE.

SEVERAL SUPPLIERS HAVE TOLD ME I WILL GET HALF HOUR WORK TIME WITH SPF ONCE MIXED.

SEVERAL PEOPLE ON HERE HAVE TOLD ME I WILL GET A FEW HOURS WORK TIME ONCE MIXED.

THIS IS VERY STRANGE AS THE TIME DIFFERENCE IS MASSIVE.

I KNOW THERE ARE MANY EXPERIENCED TILERS ON HERE AND I VALUE YOUR OPINION BUT CAN YOU JUST CLARIFY ONCE MORE HOW LONG ONCE YOU MIX UP SINGLE PART FLEXABLE ADHESIVE DO YOU HAVE UNTILL IT GOES OFF AND YOU NEE DTO CHUCK IT OUT.

THANKS AGAIN.

You will get a few hours with SPF........The rapid version you need to watch.........about 40-45 min's this time of year.

Rapid stuff......the FIRST batch mixed will last a little bit longer......but then make sure the next batchs.........the buckets are well cleaned out

BAL SPF has a 5 hour bucket time at 20deg C, open time of about 20mins and adjustment time of about 10-15 mins. Just used it myself so can confirm that this info is correct.

PS So has Mosaic Fix and Ardex equivalents X7G and X7G plus.

You're probably getting conflicting info as different products have different open times. A product that sets in 2/3 hours will obviously be workable for less time so consequently mix smaller ammounts. A product that sets in 24 hours will be workable for longer so whole bags can probably be mixed when required. Also climate will make a difference, I've heard of people using rapidset in a conservatory in the summer where the adhesive has set in the bucket almost immediately.
Choose your product according to whether the floor will need to be used soon after installation or not so soon.

Just to clarify what the lads mean by open time..this is the time it takes your adhesive bed to form a skin and then your tiles won't adhere properly..so only spread enough adhesive that you will cover within that time........hope this helps............dave..
