Replacing warped floorboards
Hi all,
would be grateful for some advice. I need to replace my bathroom floor as the floorboards that are down at the moment are not the best and some slightly curled at the edges.
I plan on takiing the old 16mm boards out and think my options for replacing as:
1. Put in brand new 16mm floorboards and use 'plastic ply' sheets already pourchased before realising the whole floor needed to come up (lesson learnt!). Then tile on top.
2. Put in a sheet of 18mm ply and then tile on top.
3. Put in 18mm 'green' chipboard flooring, and tile on top.
Anyone have any strong preferences for which is the best route - i'm also considering puting in underfloor wired heating?
Thanks,
Nige

Re: Replacing warped floorboards
If you have no height problems 18mm wbp ply, insulation boards ufh, slc and then tile, others may / will have other options.

Re: Replacing warped floorboards
As above.... but if using natural stone i would also use Ditra......

Good point about the Ditra, would consider it even if it wasn't stone.

Re: Replacing warped floorboards
If you are willing to go through the extra work then deffo rip up old floor, add some extra noggings and then sheet with thick plywood min 18mm screwed every 4 inch.
Be carfull of plumbing work that may be under your existing floor boards, if you are using a circular saw to cut out old floor set the blade to the same depth of the floor boards or even 1mm less as a precuation. (even the best of tradesmen can get caught out due to poor workmanship under the floorboards)
