    Default Tiling over inspection cover

Having never done this before I would appreciate any advice. Just been out to see the job and it's in a kitchen. The inspection cover is currently under vinyl flooring and she asked if I could tile over the inspection cover but I said it's best to leave access to the cover. Does the cover need to be raised? or do you buy a cover that raises it anyway? Help!! Cheers Ross

You can get covers designed for this sort of thing but its a rip out and reinstall job.

they are straight forward mate, but if the builder can do it, leave the pressure on him but stress to him that it needs to be flush not raised like the chimp handed monkeys tend to do ...lol

I picture these covers to come up higher than the existing floor level....high enough to allow tile adhesive and tile. Sorry if I'm being dense but having never done this I'm a bit in the dark!

    sorry mate
i should have been a bit more descriptive. yes, they fit flush with the top of the tiles, not the finished floor level. so you/ or the builder will need to take into consideration the tile thickness and adhesive....

most builders merchants have them, get a screw down gas proof one with the rubber seal in the frame ,spend some time checking them over as some fit in the frames better than others and if you get a poor fitting one it will look poor no matter how neat your tiling is, a good fitting frame and cover will look superb if tiled neatly

It is best to fit yourself.. not hard to do as mentioned and if you do it then you know how you need it to finish height wise.. never trust a none tiler to set heights...
