Default non slip floor for wet room

Hi there

We are planning a wet room and would be gratful for advice on what to put on the floor.

The few people we have asked recomend stone because its non slip but we are put off by the amount of maintenance needed (resealing etc)

Are there any non slip ceramic tiles which would be suitable.

Thanks

Have a look at Pilkington Multiversatile and similar. They are either vitirfied or fully vitirfied and usually unglazed. www.pilkingtons-tiles.co.uk If you look at the catalogue on the the site (downloadable pdf) from page 171 onwards you can see their range.

Just done a wetroom this week with tiles froom Topps. They look like the ones you see in swimming pool changing rooms, and at first i thought they would look terrible, but once they were down and grouted they looked okay. I'l post pictures soon for ya.
Like guy said mosaic are good, But don't put down polished granite like a customer made me do once!!!

as long as they are not glazed, most tiles will be ok. done lots of wetrooms with loads of different tiles. just pick some you like. most trays look better with mosaics.

I'm in the middle of a wet room job now and we are using pebbles for the graded area. Not used them before but I think it should be quite effective.

There are lots of tiles that are suitable for use in a wet room. If you want the look of stone but not the hassle then there are literally thousands of ranges on the market that look like stone. Have a look on a couple of websites to get an idea. You could try www.casalgrandepadana.it or www.caesar.it for a start. Both of these factories make masses of stone looking tiles available in an anti slip finish.
With regards to how anti slip tiles are always look for a bare foot anti slip rating. This will be A, A+B or A+B +C the last one being the highest rating and most definately suitalbe for any wet room application. A + B would also be fine.
I think the most important thing to remember is that anti slip doesn't have to mean industrial looking and although ranges like Kerastar are ok in commercial applications you perhaps wouldn't want them in you bathroom.

Thanks to all for great advice

We have chosen natural mosaics for the tray area and found complementary large textured ceramic tiles for the rest of the room.

Thanks
