    Default SLC over UFH

    Hi

I am installing electric underfloor heating in my house. The floor is concrete screed on which I am putting 10mm insulation boards then UFH cables then slate tiles on top. My question is what SLC I should supply for the tiler. I am going to provide uHeat UFH and they sell flexible SLC for £11 odd a 20kg bag. Having looked elsewhare it seems that Mapei Fiberplan is often recommended but this seems a lot more expensive. As we will be looking to cover over 120 sq metres this makes quite a difference. As users of the stuff can you tell me whether it's worth the extra money or if there is a middle way? Your help much appreciated.

Mapei Fibreplan is top notch gear, I am not familiar with what Uheat is selling but I guess it wont have the fibres in it. These fibres add the strength. Weber also do a similar product but you will find a price difference between SLC, flexible SLC and Flexible SLC with fibres.
Normal SLC is obviously not good enough so it will need to be either something like Mapei latexplan Trade or Mapei Fibreplan. You will be able to get away with Latexplan or an equivilent on your floor.
If it were my floor and by looking on the fact you have UFH, You have added Insulation and using slate tiles then I would go with Fibreplan. Should anything go wrong with the cheaper SLC then you could be kicking yourself at a later date.

Mapei Fibreplan is mainly for wooden floors iirc, Aaron from uHeat will keep you right if you explain your needs to him.
