Tiling over other Floor Tiles
Hi
I have a conservatory floor that needs tiling, there are tiles down already.
The customer would like me to tile straight over the old tiles which isn't a problem but will the adhesive stick to the old tiles?
Thanks all in advance
Paul

Re: Tiling over other Floor Tiles
depends on how well the old ones are fixed!!! use de greaser on old tiles and a rapid flexible adhesive such as bal supercover rapid set flexible CTD have offer on adhesive at the mo but tile giant (sponsors) will have an equivalent

Re: Tiling over other Floor Tiles
not what everyone would like to do but as above a good flexible adhesive like mapei keraquick and a ultracolour grout will be fine as long as the previous tiles are well adhered

Re: Tiling over other Floor Tiles
Paul,
My advise is to thoroughly clean / degrease the existing floor and check how well the existing tiles are fixed, removing any loose, chipped etc, tiles.
I always score the glazed surface with a grinder then apply Ardex P81 2 part epoxy primer. I would then use something like Ardex X7R or S16 (both rapid set flexible) depending on what I'm fixing.
Incidentally, I will only fix porcelain on a previously tiled floor. Anything else and I recommend the old tiles coming up.
Good luck mate.

Re: Tiling over other Floor Tiles
If the tiles are gloss glazed then you will need an S2 adhesive..
