tiling on tiled floor
Have seen other threads on this but just thought I would ask if my approach is a good one.
I will be doing a Kitchen floor that is currently tiled. All tiles are sound on a concrete floor. There will be no problems with floor height.
I propose to clean the tiles and lay Ditra with Ardex AF200 to decouple from the previous tiles and joints then fix new tiles with Keraflex and flexible grout. Not sure what size the new tiles will be yet but I think Ditra will protect if some joints do coincide.
Do you think I am oing over the top?
Is Sugar soap the best cleaner for the tile or should I use a Lithofin cleaner?

Re: tiling on tiled floor
Sorry for no replies.. just seen this thread..
I think the membrane is a good idea.. deffo stops the stress from the old floor transferring to the new..
Any reason the old cannot be removed..?

Re: tiling on tiled floor
if the floor is sound as you say then it can be done, the main problems usually are height issues and if any of the previous tiles do de-bond for any reason then it is you who ultimately takes the blame

Re: tiling on tiled floor
Thanks guys. I will discuss this with the customer, it may be just down to the height of the standalone cooker this could be higher than the worktop if I tile on tile. Hopefully it will be out with the old and in with the new.
