has anyone ever used army ammo boxes?
i was looking at them with the idea of using them as tool boxes in the back of the van. clearly i won't be carrying my gear in with them but i thought it would be a good idea. the big ones like the bazuka box and mortar shell boxes would be great for holding the tile cutter and powertools and i could fit a lock on them so they won't go missing if left in van overnight.

Re: has anyone ever used army ammo boxes?
yes they make excellant tool boxes and as you say can be bolted down and a lock ftted
I had some I bought from a second hand shop years ago , I had to tie ropes through the side handles so you could carry them over your shoulder otherwise you could only carry one at a time
I was on a job and a guy there was a ww2 nut, he identified the boxes from their numbers and offered me £100 the lot as they were 1940 s ammo boxes
my tools were tipped loose into the back of the van
I was going to get some modern replacements but never did
I know nothing I havent learnt

I have a small 30cal ammo box, tough as nuts and i'm pretty sure its watertight. One's sandwich and twix shall remain safe and intact
Are those kitchen tiles under the space shuttle?
