Polished porcelain discoloured by sealer
Hello people!
Used a sealer called 'universeal rapid all in one' impregnator, which comes in an aerosol (simiular to what dave at tradetiler sells) to seal some black polished porcelain prior to fixing.
But it appears to have discoloured the tile in places where it may have been put on more liberally.
Any ideas how i can get it back to the original colour?
cheers

Re: Polished porcelain discoloured by sealer
My only questions at this stage would be -
1) 'where was the black polished Porcelain from' - is it Chinese?
2) did you remove all the wax off the tiles before you sealed.

Re: Polished porcelain discoloured by sealer
they are from B&q ...... so probably are chinese
i only wiped them with a damp sponge and dried with a dry cloth before sealing

And to add to johns post.. did you buff off excess sealer..?

Re: Polished porcelain discoloured by sealer
no i didn't buff off, there didn't seem to be lots of excess on, its just when its dried you can see spots where there must have been excess on?

This could have caused uneven acceptance of the sealer - hence the patchy nature of the finished look.
BQ recommed a different sealer for their porcelain so you may have no recourse.
The open pores of this porcelain do accept dirt and should be thoroughly sealed.
My only comment would be to advise trying to put more sealer on a sample tile on the areas that have dried first to see if it accepts any more.

Re: Polished porcelain discoloured by sealer
B&Q polished Porcelain normally have a wax coating on them which isn't too easy to get off, if you didn't take this off then when you have applied the sealer in will cause a haze or discoloured patches

Re: Polished porcelain discoloured by sealer
I'm going to clean all tiles with a tile cleaner (grout haze remover), and then reseal them with a wipe on version using a lint free cloth.
hopefully discolourtion patches will disappear
