How to fill gap at top of walls i have tiled
Hi all. Im tileing my bathroom, done 2 walls floor to ceiling so far . Finished first wall on a whole tile at the top with only 2mm to spare so had no cuts.
Thought great,what a great fit .
On the second wall the ceiling turns out isnt level and i have a varying gap at one end of half inch and the other end its 1 inch.
Question.
How do i fill this varying gap ?
Will grout do the job?
1 inch is a big gap to grout.

Re: How to fill gap at top of walls i have tiled
Not easily. Grout will most likely fall out of a gap this size. If it doesn't it will crack as it's being used to fill an internal corner (wall to ceiling). My suggestion is to put some sort of coving over the top row of tiles. This is normally avoided by good planning when setting out where to lay the first tile.
The options as I see it are: -
1.) Remove tiles and redo, expensive imo.
2.) Remove the top full tile row, put up some coving and then tile up to the coving. If you choose coving that's the right size this should avoid the small gap at the top.
3.) Lower the ceiling, expensive if it's more than just a small room.
Hope this helps. If I was in your situation I would choose option 2.

One option is to remove the top tile and give yourself a border which is over 25mm, then allows you to do decent ceiling line cuts

both options above are good alternatives better than redo the hole lot or you could put in white pvc ceiling with edgeing but make sure next time you set it out with cut tile top and bottom of wall as they are never level so you wont have this problem again! good luck !

hi,yes i like the idea of a cornice. i have spent a fortune on the job so far, what with it being marble so it would have to be a quality cornice or it would cheapen the job.
