Default service hatch on bath panel

    hi all

me again lol planing for my bathroom now and i wanted to tile the side of the bath where the panel would be, but thought i would have to make some sort of a service hatch just in case.

Its a shame as all my plumbing is surface ran apart from the rad. i was thinking of boxing it all in and then tiling over that too but also think im making more work for my self lol its only a rented house so i know it wont be exactly how i want it but it will look alot better.

Has anyone done a bath like this ? would be really helpful to see how youve done it cheers

Hi yabbie, you can buy purpose made panels but it's far easier to make your own, mark out wher you panel is to go but take it to a grout joint where your tiles would be fixed, cut out your panel leaving an inch overlap into the panel, fit a couple of timber lats on the inside to give some strength to the panel, the panel your left with can be tiled, the tiles will now overhang the panel by a half inch all round, then when the adhesive has dried you can push into place, instead of grout use a matching silicone, job done, then if you ever need access you just cut through the silicone and remove the panel.

    Sorry if was long winded
