| Quote sheet to post to customer | | Hi,
Went round a customers house the other night using a quote sheet that I printed off of the forum(very good). Anyway I rang her with a price last night and then said I will post it to her, which I thinks is better.Anyway instead of sending her a copy of what I wrote down, I wondered if there is another sheet or format on the forum that I can send her. I was thinking of doing it in Microsoft word as a kind of letter explaining it in a bit more detail. What do you send? or do you just send the sheet that you filled in when quoting.
Thanks in advance.
Vinnie. | | |

| Re: Quote sheet to post to customer | | I do my quotes on headed paper stating practically every thing about the job.
What type of tiles, and who pays for what (materials etc) being the most important. cover your back as much as possible. A good example occured this week, i quoted for a ceramic floor only to find they had bought slate (bloody awful B&Q slate at that!) 'didn't think it made any difference' they said! Derrrrr!! | | |

| Re: Quote sheet to post to customer | | Spot on Dave, be very specific about what is and isn't included, in fact sometimes I think its more important to say whats not included, so try and foresee what people might be expecting you to include and be specific about it. otherwise you will always get the old "oh but I thought that was included" line. | | |

| Re: Quote sheet to post to customer | | I did my own headed paper on word the reason being is price. You can imagine that you are not going to get a percentage you quote for so getting pre printed headed paper seems like a waste. I tend to tell the customer that I have to price materials to get the best price for them and go away to do just that. Also when at home and you have time to think you have less chance of forgetting about trim and so on. You can also decide just how long it is going to take you given the obstacles. Finally I list everything on paper, such as the date and address, what they want tiling exactly, what materials you are providing, what tile size and type is quoted for and I put additional notes such as customer to remove existing tiles and make good for example, that way each knows what is expected of the other. Finally I make it clear by putting on the quote that it is only valid for a month as material prices do go up and sign it. Seperatly I make another copy of the quote so I know how much I quoted if they want the job doing in case they try pulling a fast one weeks to come. | | |

| Re: Quote sheet to post to customer | | Good piont Tom, never give a price on the spot. I always go away and think it through and then post a quote within a few days. | | |

| Re: Quote sheet to post to customer | | All my estimates are done via my accounting software. They can then be converted to orders and then the final sale invoice without any further input if necessary. Only needs to by typed once.

Oh, I also attach my terms and conditions of sale to the estimate as well. |

| Re: Quote sheet to post to customer | | Very good post. I've been stung by not stating the type of tile the client was going to use, or they have say, for instance ceramic, and when I have arrived to do the job they have bought marble. | | |
