hi guys , im no tiler but abt to tile my kitchen around the worktops with 4 inch sq tiles, question one ,, the wall will take 20 tiles across ... -

kitchen advice please
hi guys , im no tiler but abt to tile my kitchen around the worktops with 4 inch sq tiles, question one ,, the wall will take 20 tiles across now do i lay 20 straight across or can i build up a few courses then go across,
(q2) as they are such small tiles is it best to put addi to tiles or to wall (q3) by how much tile should i allow to go under electric plug thx for any help

you dont have to go all the way across in one go , you can tile up as well but dont go straight up as your tiles may go crooked. i'd trowel the wall about a metre square and tile that first. as for the socket, tile up to the back box and the socket face will cover the cuts. hope this makes sense

thx for that, im only going 4 tiles up for for for rows then i get into the splashback behind cooker then go up abt 12 high then back down to 4 tiles high

Could even cut the power to the sockets if your not that confident

Yeah - I hate that wierd tingling in the arm when you clean down with a damp sponge

thx for advice guys. one more question tho do i grout the first row of tiles or sillocone, the row of tiles that are just above the worktop? i think i will cut the electric so that i dont get any funny feelings lol

If you mean between the worktop and the tiles then you should silicone this joint
