Re: Making a bath pannel advice
if the panel is to be tiled i would use hardiebacker rather than ply with a good solid stud frame behind it

Hi Dave, I did mention about making a frame and using some 18mm ply, wondering if anyone had any tips or 'no nos' when going about it.

Re: Making a bath pannel advice
i always use plasterboard but i am tight lol just cut out an access panel tile it and use silicone you wont need any big shiny mirror screws then unless you like the look of screws but dont use ply

Re: Making a bath pannel advice
I will take some pics tomorrow, the job I am on at the moment. One bathroom has a tiled panel, I have created an invisible access panel ( watch this space)

Thanks for the help guys, will pop back on tomorrow and see the pics if you have time phil.
So plasterboard is the way to go then.

Re: Making a bath pannel advice
I use 6mm NMP as it fits under the lip nicely on most baths so a tile will come flush.
I tend to make invisible access panels using silicone instead of grout.
So make a nice frame:

The above was my first ever and a little over engineered but you get the idea.

Not for me Stu, I use Hardie backer or the like. Stronger than plasterboard

Re: Making a bath pannel advice
i think plasterboard is strong enough for you walls so i think it will be strong enough for your bath if you have some backer board i your shed it will great but if you have to buy it i think you will find plasterboard the cheapest option

Thats spot on, exactly the sort of finish I'm looking for, almost like the bath is set into the tiles.
Nice one.

Re: Making a bath pannel advice
I always put in an access panel or at least make the whole panel removeable, not always feasable due to the weight. Sometimes i make a third of it removable one make the join on the grout line.
