Default Drilling through polished porcelain tiles and re attaching toilet!!

    Hi guys

Ive finally laid my floor and im in process of putting everything back! I need to drill some holes in my polished porcelain floor tiles to screw the toilet back down! Ive bought a 6mm diamond porcelain tile drill bit but problem is it keeps slipping and cant even get started drilling the holes!! Can anyone help please? Also ive been told to drill very slowly and get someone to spray it with water whilst drilling!! I know tile giant sell a plasplugs tile drill bit with water holder attached to it but dont fancy paying 20 quid to drill 2 holes!!

    Thanks people

    Make a template of of plasterboard/thin plastic/ply.
or use the angle technique, start at 45 deg high speed and straighten up when in a mil or so.

I use a jig to hold my bits still and worth paying for one so as it doesent slip and ruin your nice newly laid tiles.

you could make a jig out off ply drill ahole into the ply the size of the drill bit you are useing place this over where you want to drill and hold this in place using pressure to hold it down. once you have got a bit off a hole in it then remove the jig and then finish by hand and keeping it wet by spraying water to cool the bit down with.

    This is your solution.

As with all porcelain tiles - they cost a lot of money to buy and install. You must use diamonds to drill holes into them.
Diamonds cost money - The reality is that you will have to pay money for your diamond core drills.

The Bathroom Fitters Kit has a 16mm core and this is perfect for taking a plug out of a tile to fit an anchor bolt to secure a toilet

The 16mm size is perfect to put a plug into a tile to fit anchor bolts.
Useful for toilet pans and for sinks with Fischer fixing kits etc
