Default Sealing rates

Hi peeps

How do you quote for sealing natural stone? Per day? per metre? and how much?
Ive a bathroom job coming up that is to have limestone walls (22.5m2). Ive quoted for the tiling and said sealing is extra, at the time he wasnt sure if he wanted it all sealed (& did think about changing to ceramic tiles!).
Im planning to use HG Marble sealant.

cheers

Personally if a tile needs sealing I would never quote a price to fit, then say it's extra to seal it as that's part of actually fitting the tiles in the first place and could make some customers think it's an optional extra.

Sealing adds more time to a job so surely you need to take that into account so, for example, do people just add a days rate onto the cost?
Surely it is an optional extra, like tanking. Even though its adviseable to have the tiles sealed its not compulsory.

Although I suppose as you charge more for fixing natural stone than you would ceramic tiles the extra covers the sealing? Am i right?

Although some muppet in the tile shop had told the client the tiles were already sealed. I told him to make sure as i doubted they were. Of course they werent. Doh!

All good fun.

I use a small paint roller to apply sealant very quick but be careful not to put to much sealant on in one go, spread it around, something that size shouldn't take you more than a hour to seal.

It's part of the job.As I only work on day rate it makes little difference. It wouldn't take long to put two or three coats on anyway.
