Thank you for the thought, Dan, some yes, some I would do differently, with more subtleties, but some I know I couldn't do yet. I haven't had much experience with protraits but I can draw them well enough, the most important step, it's niggling away at me that I should have a go, even thinking of starting the hard way, the "new baby in the family to come" portrait maybe, when she is 6 months old or so, smooth soft features are the hardest, so it's a challenge in my mind, the brain has much fewer recognition points so it has to be spot on. Basically if I find I can do a baby face really well, with the right expression, especally using totally different colour mixes, then I can go on to simpler adult faces and relax a little...

That is very sweet of you Dom, but Mark Kennedy has many more years of experience under his belt. I think he's REALLY OLD!!!! Seriously, it's just a different artistic approach, different thinking. Thanks anyhow, I will go to bed with a smile on my face...

Yeah Mark is good, I went to school with him & he's a nice bloke too. His work has also been seen on Corrie etc. Beckham bought one of his portraits as did Noel Gallagher who bought a mosaic of Colin Bell.

Mark inspired me to try it myself a couple of years ago, I did a 2 colour portrait of Ian Brown (60x77cm) Not bad for a first try I guess but it was nowhere near as good as Mark's work.

REALLY OLD! I'm sure he'll appreciate that, he's about 44 years old!

Anyway, here's his website if anyone's interested: Mark Kennedy: Mosaicist
