making good an old floor
hey folks
went to see a job today in a 19th cetury cottage, the floor was ok but had a fair slope to it. self level would not really work i feel as you would need loads to get the level and they wanted the tiles to run into the hallway, the customer was happy to have a slope look, saying it was an old cottage etc and that would be expected. have any of you guys and girls got any tips on getting it prepared or should i just run a mile. although it has a slope from one corner it is flat if that makes sense, its not bumpy
thanks for your time and hope you can help

Don't see a problem. Not a tiler just a retired highway engineer. Set up some datums - low and hie points blocked up to allow for tile and bed. A good straight edge or two to work with and make sure you can get bed and tile depth in and away you go. Working to your straight edges,
Works for me when DIY flagging etc.

Re: making good an old floor
cheers guys, found this v difficult to explain im afraid, the slope has to be about 2 inches so without self level its too much to bed to get a level floor so i guess its run with the slope or just not do it. its 12 sq metersand quite gradual but still very visible to the eye

Re: making good an old floor
Why does it have to be level? What wrong with just flat?
