Default foam/paper backing on vinyl tiles

OK, so I've lifted the vinyl tiles. Took AGES! Now there is a sort of paper/foam stuck on the floor, and this is STUCK HARD!. Tried heating it, scraping it, even tried sanding it off with a angle grinder, but nothing seems to work well. Can I tile onto this stuff? I think i might have to!

Default Re: foam/paper backing on vinyl tiles

    hi Al

I had a similar problem in my kitchen. Foam backed carpet glued straight to the floor

As I'm a perfectionist, I sat and scraped as much off as I could with a nice sharp scraper. but the oddments I couldn't get off I just simply primed over before I started my tiling. no problems from this yet and the tiles have been down over a year
