Hi,

doing mates on suite wall and floor tommorrow and he has just been to ctd for bal floor addy and white star for wall and grout (they didn't have any sbr) and he said to mate "who's doing your tiling" he replied " my mate " and mister ctd replied " tilers normally cut corners and go for cheaper gear. Mate phoned me and told me what he said which made me feel like i've cost him extra money. Anyone know what he's talking about.

Cheers Steve.

probaly because your mate asked for the propper gear then they wondered why you hadnt opted for cheaper blue or greeen star etc.....some fixers just use the cheapest they can get there hands on...........dave..

Hi Dave,

Twas the sunderland branch which i actually used myself when i done my bathroom and they cheesed me off then when he couldn't even order correct trim ends to finish off vertical trim, he gave me corner pieces instead but as it was the wife that picked them up i couldn't be bothered to take them back just cut extra quadrant off then stuck them in got the same effect. The comment he made earlier makes me look like i'm making him spend more than he needs and makes me look like an amateur even though thats what i am being new to tiling. But if he mentions it again (mate) i'll repeat what mister ctd said "cut corners, cheaper stuff".

Cheers Steve

I don't like that comment at all. The person at the shop was unprofessional, and I would go and have works with him. Yes, I do use the cheaper gear sometimes, but mainly the good gear, as I know that it will stand the test of time, tell your mate that.

Only ever went to Topps once and they wanted £18 for 11 kgs of C2 beige grout.I asked if that was trade and they said I would have to pay that then send the receipt off and get any discount that way. They're having a laugh with prices like that and that was about 4 years ago.Other than that I only ever use the best materials. At the end of the day it is the customer that pays for them and I only ever want to do the best job possible.
