Hi members.
I have just started a showroom for PWS Distributors Ltd in Newton Aycliffe
in their new extension to the Design centre.
The floor is made up of small bays of old concrete floors, so to avoid any
surface cracking i have installed Mapei's Mapetex anti fracture membrane.
This first floor section is to be tiled in light walnut tumbled travertine in
opus pattern supplied to PWS by Perfect home and garden .
This design centre for PWS has won the designer gold award ... PWS Distributors Ltd - Designer gold innovation award for Metris® by PWS
Anyway i will do some pics of work in progress for you to see and after the
displays are in-situ i will get some complete pics.. Installation of Mapetex membrane. Attached Images

Re: Showroom display floors for PWS Distributors Ltd.
so is the anti fracture membrane a de-coupler Dave?
Re: Showroom display floors for PWS Distributors Ltd.
Is that just bonded or is there a mechanical fixing as well?

You can bond it with VS90 or tile adhesive or even lay it loose for easy removal of temp flooring.

Re: Showroom display floors for PWS Distributors Ltd.
is VS90 like a contact addy?
Re: Showroom display floors for PWS Distributors Ltd.
I've always liked the look of this stuff and recommended it to Pebbs in another thread recently
Be interested to know how it compares cost wise to likes of Dural,etc...

Not sure on cost to be honest kev.. i didn't supply it but around the same price i would say and it is only 1.5mm thick but easier to lay
Re: Showroom display floors for PWS Distributors Ltd.
Ok.. all finished now..
Will try and get back once the displays are fitted for final pics.
Here are pics of display 1 with the Tumbled light walnut travertine in opus pattern
Some pics of tiling in progress etc and final seal.
The there is some pics of Display 2 with Tumbled travertine 610mmx410mm in brick set and again i have used the Mapetex membrane.
Opus pattern is sealed in LTP Mattstone and brick set is sealed in LTP Colour Intensifier.
In total 78.5 mtrs of tiling.
All tiles/adhesive/membrane and sealer's supplied by Perfect home and garden direct to PWS.

The mesh on the face of Dural ci can make it spring back up at the edges if the roll was tight etc.. not always just now and again.
The mapetex is just like wall paper or applying the likes of the Dural wp but mapetex is an uncoupler not just a crack isolator.
Re: Showroom display floors for PWS Distributors Ltd.
