i looked into the connect when i was after a van but was told by several people that they rust a lot. i went for a 1.7 combo. good van but could do with more space at times.

Not so much vans to recommend, but vans to avoid and in this case i would nominate the Nissan Primastar. Bought mine last December and ive already had to fork out to replace the gearbox and clutch.
The Primastar is basically a rebadged Vauxhall Vivaro or Renault Trafic - if you notice, all three are identical.
Agree that VW is probably the way to go or perhaps a Merc vito (later models)

You'll only get 9000 miles on a set of tyres if your lucky. You're obviously earning too much Dave.

Limited availability on the Transit tho'. Not sure you can get it in black anymore. Deffo sold out in white and blue versions.

Still prefer a VW even if it is more dosh.

I've got a scudo, decent enough size altho' underpowered when I've got all my tools in. i wish I'd held on a bit longer to find a turbo model rather than the basic 1900.
I'll be getting a pick up in the not too distant future a double cab L200 or Navara which would also double up as a towing vehicle for when we get a caravan. The trailer that we use for all our camping gear could then also be used for my work tools.
