Re: vitrified tiles again
Vitrified is just the firing process and biscuit structure of the tiles.. The clays used and high temp fired at.
Hence giving then a low absorption rate.
Porcelain tiles are Vitrified through to fully vitrified like through bodied porcelains.
A modified adhesive is required... but most rapid sets have slight modification to allow usage with porcelains..

Re: vitrified tiles again
cheers dave ,are they recommened for wet areas ?
what the purpose of em?

Re: vitrified tiles again
Yes ok for wet area's..
The purpose is that they are a lot harder than normal ceramics and are frost resistant as well..
They wear a lot better than standard ceramics and through bodied porcelains are the sane colour from the face to the back, so no amount of wear will show unlike glazed ceramics that the surface pattern can wear off revealing the tiles biscuit.

Re: vitrified tiles again
Stevee, when they are emphasising the finish needing to be good do they not mean the tiles are 'rectified'???

Re: vitrified tiles again
Fully vitriified/ vitreous tiles are fired at such high temperature's, the good quality ones are like glass. Very low porosity. Good quality porcelain imo should not need sealing
