yes its a bathroom as im sealing round the bath and yes its with silicon.

use a good quality silicon, clean the surfaces with meths first or the wipes from cornertape. (use their product if you have never siliconed before and you will get a good finished job)

I wouldn't silicone before grouting myself. i've never tried but grout will not stick to silicone, like silicone will stick to grout, if you get what I mean
. Also you run the risk of leaving voids around the bath which will result in leaks
