Default Tiling Project. A bathroom from start to finish.. TOTAL refurbishment of bathroom

OK so we may sponsor this forum but we are not aloof and we dont sit
up here in our ivory tower while you poor readers have to get down and
    dirty with your own projects...

Oh no EVEN WE have to put our hands into the dirt, roll up our sleeves
    AND DO A BATHROOM !

I intend to do this project in stages and I am taking pics as I go.

The brief on this one is to strip out the bathroom, strip out the kitchen
plumb in a new combi boiler and remove the tanks to give space.

OK here we go. First off in the Bathroom

This beauty is taking up a bit of space so its going....
But we have to make room in the kitchen for a new boiler

I've just taken off the kitchen cabinets and first thing is that
there is a great lump in the plaster exposing the bricks.

Patched with a piece of plasterboard and a bit of thistle !
(Do you like my plastering...) Now thats ready for the gas fitter who will be
    on site on Monday.

Back to the bathroom and theres that tank again!
Wont be around too much longer.

Dirt on my nose? WHAT WORKING????
Time to grab the Timotei from the pile of rubble...

    I am not a tidy worker !

    What a lovely ADVACADO sink...

    Going....

    Gone...

I love my sledge hammer... Thats the shower tray gone.

OK thats it for now. I will take pics as this project progresses and
post up. Then you will be able to laugh at my efforts and hopefully
    share my pain !

    Part two.

We start off in the Kitchen and that combi-boiler is now going in.
Gas is now live to the unit.
    Pipes to be connected later.

Ive got to kango the tiles off and strip the plaster back.

New radiators are on (yes the carpet is going!) in all rooms

Back to the bathroom... And that old hot water tank has gone
So has the cupboard surrounding it. All that is left is a stub
in the floorboards which is the main water supply. Will relocate
    that to the kitchen.

All tiles and plaster have been stripped off the wall.
    Its Back to basics.

Managed to find a hidden electric light
cable going HORIZONTAL in the wall Hmmm

So going to chase the wall out and put it vertical.

DISASTER at tea time.. NO SUGAR. AND NO MILK.
    Its black coffee *yuk*

Back garden is now looking like a tip! Was asked NOT to
put rubbish on the grass but there is so much of it...

Still got to tackle the old toilet but cant face going in there yet!!

Stripped out the fireplace, back boiler and plumbing for
    the heating system..

    So far going OK....

look forward to the next pic's.sledge hammer.hope you had your goggles on,not just the ear defenders,i tend to tidy as i go,less chance of sharp tile bits flying about the place.young lad working with us last week had big pile of broken tiles on the floor, dropped his lump hammer , tile shard flew up and cut him.he now understands why i told him to bag up as he goes.

    Latest installment.

    1) Bathroom. Room is now plastered. Thats drying so not much can be done in here for a while...

WRONG TILES HAVE BEEN ORDERED !!
    Should have been 300 x 600. However 300 x 400 arrived. Going back Monday

On to the kitchen then and its time to get that wall straight.

What a mess.... Here we go !

    Almost there.....

And finished... Thats the wall almost back to blockwork. Its as level as I can get it with all those mutli layers...

Cup of tea time I think !

My little portable fridge is a blessing with the milk. Bargain !

Shower tray has arrived but still cant do much in the bathroom yet.

Time to move to the living room now.
    Jobs to do.
    1) Strip out the skirting boards.
    2) Remove coving
    3) Chase out walls for new double sockets.

Nope... That bathroom wall is going to take some time....

Job is in HARLOW. But at the moment everything is under control...
The plasterer is a good friend of mine, Glenn and has worked with me for years.
But thanks for the offer. Appreciate it. Always good to know the trades are out there

Latest Pics... While we wait for that bathroom plaster to dry out there are other jobs to do.

Coving coming off the living room ceiling. Going to skim this lot.

    Skirting boards also ripped out....

    Closer look.

Time for a new electrical socket

    Cant leave the drills alone...

    Job done.

Aaaaannd.... A CUP OF TEA ! In the luxury living room furniture.

Bathroom Plaster is still drying out and we are waiting for the tiles to be replaced with the 300 x 600 instead of the 300 x 400

    Todays update...

Shower tray cut into the plaster and setback ready for tiling.

Different angle. View from bathroom door to where that old cupboard was with the central heating hot water tank.

Toilet now relocated and plumbed in to main sewer.

    We're getting there....

    Tile laid out. 600 x 300 ceramics.

Going to be laid as a brick bond pattern.

    Wider shot.

Remember when it looked like this......

Ceiling is overboarded 9mm plasterboard (nothing special) Skimmed and then painted with two coats of white.

    Another day over

Nice of you to take time to submit photos of the job mate.

Looking forward to seeing the end result

Is the shower area being tanked when the plaster is dry.??

Are those tiles within the 20kg weight limit for plaster skim.??

p.s. a mini fridge is the way forward on some jobs. keeps your shandy bass cold.

Cheers Gazebo. Well here are some more for you guys (1st July 2010)
    Here we go...

Its the shower wall tiled (no door or screen yet)

And this is the wall tiled for the sink and toilet.

Tiles around the doorway. I would have done away with the architrave and used tile trim but not my choice.

Bottom of the tile rows showing the shower tray

    Corner of bathroom

The sink unit is looking nice

And a bit of a well known tap

    Helps with a small bathroom

    Just needs grouting now!
(PS: The window section has been left because in 7 weeks time new windows to be fitted so ripping out. Space left for tiles and window sill.

I think the centre line was taken from the window due to the cabinets being in place

Which may have upset the balance of the ceiling / floor tiles.
I will have to measure the floor tile to see if was feasible to have put a
    full tile to the ceiling.

Toilet has now come out of its room.

Cuts a lonely figure outside as it waits for the dump !

New loo looking a little bit more modern in white than advacdo

So they have someone at the factory testing them...
Must drink a lot of water.

Shower tray in and ready for lino to be fitted to floor
