    Default Grouting problem!

hi, first of all a great forum!! i have just laid a porcelain floor in my hall, which I am made up with but!!!! I did the grouting but after it dried overnight I realised that I didn't put enough grout in , so it is not level with the tiles. In somme part sit is some it isn't!! Am I able to just put more grout down or will it be a bigger job??? Also does the grout need seling to stop it staining? Thanks Martin

    Hi Martin and

If your wanting a full joint, up to the tile then you may have to rake out the joints that need a top up, you'll need to do this so as the grout gets a good hold, try leaving the grout longer before washing so as it is harder and not as easy to wash out, experiment on a small section first so that you get a feel for it.

    HTH's

BTW what grout was it ?

    Hello mate,
Firstly that looks like you made a neat job of your floor
Get yourself a grout rake with a new blade and carefully remove from the joints..be REALLY careful tho' not to chip or scratch your tiles!!!
If you've gone to the bother of removing the old grout I would also really advise treating yourself to a decent brand for the re-grout either a BAL or Mapei flexi wide joint...it will pay dividends!
As mentioned above experiment on a small patch first to get the 'feel' for when it goes off enough to wash off without pulling it out of the joint. I'd also treat myself to a decent wash buoy (comes with a handled flat bed sponge) which will keep the joints nicely topped up when washing off, whereas using normal sponge may 'dig in' a bit more without practice! good luck!
I saw a really really sad looking guy in a tow truck this morning..I thought 'He's heading for a breakdown'
