Hi Paul, some people don't rate washboys. But if used right they can make grouting floors so easy, if you get used to using them, I know the over wetting argument, efflorescence, etc. But I like them Big floor or small imo.

Funny you should say that Phil, i got a KD washboy a few years back and i cant really get on with it , i know how to use it but i find i can only use it on large floor areas , and even then the effort to squeeze the excess water from the sponge is hard work, maybe im missing something , any tips?

I like to emulsify the grout first, and then clean off with dry washboy float sponge dry as poss, and clean water

Sorry Paul, I meant when you have applied the grout, allow 10/15 mins to start to set up/firm up in the joints. Then with washboy agitate, to loosen grout trying to go off on face of tile. Finally use clean water to give last clean off. Emulsify just means break down top grout on tile surface, mostly used in epoxy grouts. Hope this makes sense

there is only one way to wash grout off nowa days and thats with a washboy. take it one wall at a time. grout it then start washing the grout off with the washboy sponge until the joints are even and smooth then go over it from one side to another with a clean sponge e,g wipe a line down then rince the sponge move over a bit then wipe a line down then rince off easy walls or floor good luck
